Today was a good day – God is Good!

Today was a good day!

We had a beautiful day of sunshine.

I cleaned, did some work, encouraged some people, took a call to help a friend (a pre Christian and we talked about Christian stuff amongst the other stuff), did some loads of washing, did some pro bono work, watered my garden (I am a garden person and these last few days I have got back into the garden after 6 years of never managing to due to ballet runs), had a coffee with my husband, encouraged my children … and …

did I mention it was a beautiful warm day of sunshine here in Melbourne Australia?

In a nut shell, the good is, aside from the above:

My husband has settled into working at home. My 16 year old daughter and my 12 (nearly 13) year old son have settled into online schooling with their respective schools. I work from home anyway … so the difference for me is a full house, and no running around doing ballet runs for children :-). School term finished today, and my son has his birthday this weekend – we will bake a cake, skype family and sing happy birthday and find the joy in it all.

There is a peace, it does feel like the peace in the midst of the storm, but there is peace.

Indeed, Lana Vawser (and others) have released words that it is a time of ‘Selah’, a time to pause, reflect AND a time to lift up Jesus above all, for as we do He will lift up all mankind to Himself, and that’s where we need to be (lifted up to Jesus) (see John 12:32). Check out the Psalms where this term is used, and try stopping, pausing for a moment and think, contemplate the Word you just read …

Better still read (and declare) Psalm 91 and contemplate our beautiful God.

And so I will continue to rest upon a life scripture of mine, Phil 4:4-8, which exhorts us to:

Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things.

So I will pray.

I will petition.

And, with thanksgiving I present my requests to God … and those requests are fierce and in line with Doug Addison’s prayer  to break the covid19 virus and …

I have peace, thank God I have Peace!

And I pray you do too …

Regardless I will focus and think on all things that are:

  • true
  • noble
  • right
  • pure
  • lovely
  • admirable
  • excellent
  • praiseworthy

even if my mind wants to go else where, I will train it back, purely and simply because …

God is Good!

Interestingly, I felt God ask me to post daily (which if you are a fellow blogger you know that is quite a lot of work, especially if you are rather verbose like I can tend to be ;-). So, if these posts are a little rough and ready – apologies!

It was therefore ironic when a fellow blogger (chrissblog11) today asked me to join other Christian bloggers and post an encouraging verse every day! Chrissblog11 wants to ‘start a hope movement to stop fear in these times.’ Well this is what I am doing too – releasing over the air waves that GOD IS GOOD! Declare it to the world, the world wide web … the WWW. that GOD IS ALWAYS GOOD!

Salt preserves – being community in the world … God is Good!

Yesterday I posted about the time I had to stop and breathe. During this time God came and nurtured me, and gave me a list of dot points to “do” (note: it is a high priority to “be” every day, before I “do”).

One of my dot points was literally: “JMAB – skype lessons.”

JMAB is an elite ballet school.  It provides excellent dance tuition to literally hundreds of children, who represent 100’s of families in our wider community.  The school has existed for YEARS!

With the prospect of community distancing, schools shutting, and our suburbs getting ready to go into shut down I became acutely aware of the needs of our ballet school, and how very vulnerable the staff would be feeling. Now, this was last week people, so Australia was still not really seeing the writing on the wall.  I have always prayed for every school community that we are a part of, and this school is no exception, and so, as this season of challenge accelerated over the last few weeks I have found myself praying more and more for JMAB staff.

Now, I have learnt to hold my tongue with God ideas, and to go gently gently, especially with pre Christians, although on this I stuff up all the time.  So, I sat on this idea and waited for God’s timing, for a natural opportunity to make the suggestion.

It came Sunday afternoon!

I received a text that the school would be shut down due to State Government guidelines.

I texted the staff member back saying:

Hi S

We have set up a studio in our lounge room. We would love privates by video by video – what are your thoughts? This way we can support the studio financially through this time and the kids can keep training xxx

Note: I wanted to keep the idea small to start with, but I saw it HUGE – much bigger than just the odd private lesson

I then texted more:

We are setting up our cameras etc too 🙂 Maybe J could put the level 2 music and other music online for the kids too.  There is so much we can do as a community to keep JMAB going xxx

As I texted, I read what I wrote to my husband and as I did waves of the Presence, or surges of God’s anointing came and covered me powerfully. It took me by surprise, but though laughter, and it’s intensity I thought “ok God must be on this”.

Then suddenly the phone rang.

It was S.

We then proceeded to have a discussion. I told S I had been praying for them all and that last week I had felt I had received this idea as I prayed for them.  I told her I wanted her to know they were not alone, and that they were important to us.  That JMAB and staff were important to the community.

S had a number of challenges with the idea.  She was already defeated and deflated. I gently came back with decent suggestions to counter the issues (the ideas just came people) and as I did she slowly warmed to the idea and even started saying how it could perhaps work, and she started problem solving for herself, and she started to sound more hopeful. I knew not to be too intense, to let the idea slowly simmer. After quite a lengthy call, I hung up hopeful, trusting and praying that she would communicate the ideas to J, the principal of the school.

I had to trust God!

Yesterday I drove my daughter to the school to empty her locker, and while there my daughter saw J, the principal teacher.

J said to my daughter that she hoped to see her soon … AND she said that she was hoping to do some classes online … !!!

When my daughter jumped back into the car and told me MY HEART SANG!!

We are called to be salt and light to the world (Matthew 5:13-16).

Salt preserves.

Salt brings cohesion to a recipe, it binds the flavours together.

Salt also highlights and intensifies flavours.

I’m hoping God’s salt will preserve JMAB and staff in this time of uncertainty for so many.  Just a sprinkle, and I trust He will do the rest – because He cares more for them than I do.

How do we be salt?

We release Him as we go, we release His ideas as we go, and we pray for people (in our prayer closets, and in the open). We seek His ideas for them, and if we have the opportunity we gently communicate those ideas (whether saying He gave them or not)

How do we not lose our saltiness?

We spend time with the One who created everything,  We read His word, we worship, we pray, we journal … we dream with God.

And as we do, in these uncertain times, more than ever people will see that …

God is Good!

 

Chicken soup for the soul

I just met a fellow blogger (randieanderson.wordpress.com) whose own journey of faith has been awe inspiring … a new friend made, a blessing received … thank you God!

As we chatted about the goodness of God I mentioned a story I thought I had posted years ago about praying for a hairdresser … I cant find the particular story I referred to, but I reread this one and decided to repost!

Ironically the hairdresser who received the miracle through a friend called me last week to let me know she had been blessed with twins after this first pregnancy, and that she had opened her own salon …

She surely has tasted and she has seen that …

God is Good!

The nose that could not smell (Late 2008)

While this was not the first time I had stopped and prayed for someone, it was a critical point of the journey … I was so ready to give up!
It took 6 months to find out what had truly happened and thank goodness I had kept on going, and trusting God.
This girl has since gone on a journey…
She is the owner of the hairdresser I used to go to, and the last time I saw her was last November when she said to me … “every time I get around you I want to cry” to which I responded that she was feeling God and His love for her … because I can tell you the last time I saw her I was stressed, tired and overwhelmed by life myself so it sure wasn’t me … or anything contrived by me …
I replied that she felt Him every time because she was special and very very loved by Him to which the tears poured down her face … God would touch her over and over and over again each time I saw her over the years which so clearly shows that if we will just “be real” and “do life” they will see the light through and in us purely because … God is Good!

Praying for healing, blessing the land and praying to keep the locusts away – Monday 20th September 2010

I know I have not been writing … but that has not stopped God from moving!
A number of friends have suggested I reblog some old stories … and so I am starting with my first testimony, and one of the first times I “stepped out” and prayed for someone.
I don’t know the outcome of this story, but I know the family were touched … and for me it was the start of a crazy intense walk with God … which drew me closer and closer into Him … I hope you enjoy …

Freakin’ Miracles

It is a testimony of someone in dire straits who is miraculously healed and whose healing becomes the tipping point for a doctor to come to faith ….
Are you in need of a miracle? Get or let someone pray for you … Your miracle may be someone else’s “Freakin’ Miracle” …
Do you know someone needing prayer … Pray for them … You never know … Your prayer may unlock a miracle that saves a life (or lives) and becomes another “Freakin’ Miracle” … in a pre-believer’s life …
Give God a go … Pray for someone and the world will see that …

And she felt Him by her side all week…God is good!

About a month ago I was having coffee with a friend at a coffee shop in a major shopping centre, a coffee shop I had been to about a fortnight before. 

The same girl served us as had on my first visit … she was delightful, gentle and kind … and I remembered her with fondness …

I said “hello” and reminded her of the last time I was in and then happily caught up with my friend.

After our catch up, as I went to pay, I sensed that I needed to offer to pray for the girl.  As she processed our bill I asked if I could pray, explaining I was a Christian … she immediately got a bit flustered, and her hands visibly began to shake.  She responded she too was a Christian … and that yes, I could pray …

I took her hand and asked her if she was studying, was there something around her study that needed prayer?  She responded in the affirmative and instantly got teary, explaining that yes she needed prayer for a situation she was facing as a student teacher …

I prayed for her, the anointing tangible, her shaking and crying a little.

I “saw” myself kissing her forehead, as I had for others before her, and blessing her with the Father’s blessing and I asked if I could bless her and kiss her forehead … she agreed and so I did, and I gently gave her a hug at the end …

Through tears and shaking hands, apologising for hersef she gave me my credit card and I thanked her for allowing me to pray … as I left I said … “God has the solution sorted, it will be ok, otherwise He would not have told me to offer to pray or that you were a student … and I left it at that …”

About two weeks later I went to the same coffee shop.  This was a strange coincidence since I never usually go to this particular shopping centre … it is further away and although it is larger, I just never go there …

In any case, I was there with my husband who had ducked down from work to see something at a shop there and the same girl was there serving again.

We exchanged niceities, and I introduced my husband, and she then went on to say that from that day I had prayed before the sense of God’s presence had stayed with her in strong and tangible way … it had remained strong for the week that followed and she had felt great peace …

I smiled, delighted at her sense of God being with her, and her sense of it going to be ok … and she went on to tell us that she was part of a small team that had planted a church in a bayside suburb and that it had been tough.  I then sensed that she was going to need wisdom, and I felt my husband needed to pray and I asked if she was needing wisdom for some decisions to come … she did … and so I asked if my husband could pray for her, for wisdom, to which she responded with a “yes” and he did … imparting a gift of wisdom, that he walks in, to equip her for her future and the decision making process she was going through … the anointing came strongly again …

We hear from God …

We can all hear from God …

For ourselves … and for others …

Jesus said in the context of seed being cast …

… those that have ears to hear … let them hear (Mark 4:9)

Will you stop and incline your ear? And, stop to listen to the creator of the universe …

I know I miss it … but oh the rewards for hearing and stepping out, whether it be stepping out on a word for others, or a prophetic word for myself … either way … what delight to hear Him speak … for He knocks … will you let Him in to your busy life so you may see?  Will you let Him into your busy schedule so that you may hear?

If you do, I know you will see that indeed …

God is Good!

 

Will the real Body of Christ please stand up? Being the Body, blesses the Body because…God is Good

So often we are encouraged to step into all that we are called to be, to be all we are designed to be, not only so that the world may “taste and see that the Lord is good” (Psalm 34:8) … but also so that the rest of the Body can walk into its identity as Beloved Sons and Daughters and function in fullness …

This is a story of one part of the Body, blessing another part of the Body … by just listening, obeying and going … taking the time to stop for another, in love.

We host a night in our home on a fortnightly basis where we invite God to come.  It is a safe environment for those that have been impacted by God on the streets to come and explore What, or rather, Who they encountered.  Some are new Christians, others have been Christians in traditional environments but are hungry for more, and still others are not yet Christians but want to know more.

One of our group, a beautiful woman who has been exploring a new Christian life, has been walking in miraculous synchronicity with her loving God.  She has been on a rapid journey of discovery, and she has desired to really step into who she is in Christ…wanting to hear, obey, and respond to Him.  In the midst of this time a person special, and close to her died.  Naturally, she has been sad.

Unbeknownst to us she had started to wonder whether she was “good enough” … we have all been there … and while we know we can never be good enough the doubts about who we are can erode the truth and shake us to the core.  This can be especially so when we are vulnerable, such as at times of loss.

At about the same time, on Monday morning, I saw another friend from our group who said she was heading off to buy this first friend a bunch of flowers.  She had a “God assignment” and she was off to do as called …

We found out on Tuesday evening, that this second friend had visited four florists.  She had known she was to buy the first friend a bunch of roses and that the roses had to be pink … but it took four florists to find just the right shade of pink …

She dropped them off, knocking on the door and giving them to the first friend, who then recounted on Tuesday night that the roses were the exact shade of pink … a bluey  pink … that she had just days before cast upon her uncle’s body at his funeral, prior to him being buried …

It was also the exact shade of pink of a rainbow she had seen another time te morning after she stepped out for the first time, doing as God had bidden her do… 

As she told the story, I could feel God’s love for her and I said: “what do you think God was trying to say to you through these roses being just the right shade of pink?” … and she looked at me and said

“… He loves me …”

And so it dawned on her that she was truly loved … just because … not because she was “good enough” … but, just because …

So I will ask, will the real Body of Christ please stand up …?

I believe the that the world truly does … taste, and see that

God IS Good!

Calling forth the destiny of the next generation…God is Good!

Last Tuesday I was at the local shopping centre with my two children on our last day of holidays … we had just finished shopping for my little boy’s kindy bag … and were on our way down some escalators to see a movie as a final holiday “hurrah” …

The following day I had a funeral to attend – the funeral of a friend’s mother.  She had fought off breast and bowel cancer years before and had been diagnosed and fought brain cancer last year but the fight had got too much and she went home to be with Jesus.

As I turned to go down the escalators, heading off to the movies … with just enough time to get an ice-cream and settle into our seats … I saw a woman with her three daughters follow us down the escalators, with the tell tale sign of a scarf around her head – I immediately thought of my friend’s mum and sensed it was breast cancer … I knew I needed to offer to pray …

At the bottom of the escalators I turned and spoke to the woman, indicating that I could see she was dealing with a serious illness.  She said she had breast cancer – it had been tough!  I offered to pray explaining that I had been praying for many people that were battling breast cancer recently … and she agreed. 

As I prayed she felt heat cover her body, she got very hot from the head down …

I finished and thanked her, looking to her three girls, and as I did I asked if I could pray for them too …

The three girls held hands and stood before me in a line … I held their joined hands in mine and prayed for them.  I prayed for courage, peace and joy and as I did I started to receive “insight” into each of these three beautiful girls … and I began to call forth their destinies …

I looked at the eldest and prophesied into her future, telling her that I sensed she was bold, strong and noble … a tower of strength (I looked at the mum and she nodded in agreement).  I suggested she needed to continue to walk to her own drum beat regardless of what others around her were doing … that she was created for greatness … to continue to stand tall and strong … regardless of peer pressure in the next few years …

I turned to the youngest and I could feel her sweet compassion … she was gentle and carried the weight of the world on her shoulders … the mum nodded again in agreement and I told the young girl that God had created her sweet and gentle, that she was very precious to God and I prayed for her to have wisdom in what burdens she picked up, and to find wisdom for the burdens she cast down … I then prayed and asked God for this wisdom, for protection and for the strength to know how to set boundaries and say “no” when she should …

The middle daughter was standing and I could feel the pull on me of her desire to be “seen” by God … I had a moment of panic, but then settled, reassured that God would not leave out one … because God never leaves any of His children out of His plans and purposes.  As I looked I laughed and said “you are a bold one and you have a mighty gift of healing …” and I turned to the mum and said “you should get her to lay her hands upon you and pray healing in the name of Jesus” … I could feel she was fiery, full of passion – her mum smiled in agreement …

I hugged the girls and turned and asked the mum if I could hug her, she agreed and I thanked her for permitting me to pray for her … and for allowing me to prophesy over her girls …

The three of us … we got to our movie … my little boy had prayed that the movie would not start without us … and it didn’t.  We got our ice-creams; we got to our seats and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves on our last day of holidays together …

But, I may add, even if we had run late, and I discussed this with my daughter later on, what a privilege to pray and call forth the destiny of three beautiful girls … what a privilege to speak out Gods design and to pray healing for a woman, a fellow mum … a fellow human being … that is fighting for her life against a disease that we have the answer for … all in the name of Jesus …

Who am I not to stop?  Don’t we have the cure?

For there is healing in the name of Jesus … so … who am I not to stop?

We must offer what we have if we truly believe who we are …

There is healing in the name of Jesus …

We have the cure … we have the solution … if we will just believe and stop as we go and release … the cure, the answer is in the name of Jesus …

So, let’s co-partner and see Him receive His just reward … as His Bride, as His friend, as His servant …

We have the answer … we have the cure … in Jesus … SO let’s offer Him to the world so that they too may see that …

God is Good!
