While flattering, it was also frustrating. I was hungry to grow, learn, sharpen my gift and train with others. We need to train, to take our gifts to the gym, for ‘solid food is for the mature, who by constant use have trained themselves to distinguish good from evil’ (Hebrews 5:14).
I grouched at God.
‘What are you going to do about it?’ He responded.
‘I don’t know,’ I replied, feeling sorry for myself.
‘Why don’t you do something about it?’
‘I can’t,’ I replied. ‘You know what I have on.’
Since that time, He has spoken to me, giving me a ‘next step’, a little at a time.
‘Refer away all your work.’
I did, nervous, for the world was shutting down. Clients were calling, and I diligently listened to their stories, their troubles, requests for my help, and I referred them on.
The year progressed, and as it did, I reached out to various people to learn and grow with – accountability, community, essential, for the ‘Lone Ranger’ prophetic person can get a little loopy.
Andrew and I started zoom groups for those that we knew and loved. We taught them about identity, how loved they were, we taught them soaking, sitting at the feet of the Father (for if you sit, as Mary did at the feet of Jesus in Luke 10:39, then you are sitting at the feet of the Father – for if you have seen Jesus you have seen His Father – John 14:9.
We facilitated prayer groups for those that wanted it, and so weekly throughout 2020, as Melbourne paced itself through the strictest and longest lockdowns in the world, we ministered and loved as best we could – the lonely, the disenfranchised, even suicidal ones.
As the year progressed, I attended a prophetic seminar hosted by Prophetic Company Global. God had asked me to write curriculum that covered what I had been doing for years in our home. The curriculum was to include (but was not limited to) training in the prophetic. Everything said at this seminar resonated deeply. My excitement was tangible. Dan McCollam and Bethany Hicks were using language I had used for years. They had created local community the way I had dreamed – loving, uplifting, edifying, honouring. I found it profoundly affirming.
When the seminar finished (it was an intense 3 days starting 4am and finishing 5pm my time) I felt tired yet grateful. I had received many profound words as we trained, words that affirmed me over and over in what I had felt God calling me to do. These words were from all over the world as we zoomed into break out sessions. Words God gave to complete strangers who ‘read my mail.’ The impact was profound and instant; my gift refined and relit.
An international school launched for people who felt called to train people in the prophetic. The cost in Aussie dollars meant I discounted the idea, knowing I had received affirmation that I was on the right track with my planned curriculum. Indeed, I woke the final morning with the Holy Spirit saying to me I did not need to spend the money. I thought no more about it, quickly counting my blessings when ever the FOMO (fear of missing out) raised its head.
A week or two later, I stood over my sink. I had written the curriculum outline for the training I would start in 2021, and I thought to myself, it was not even a prayer:
‘If you want me to do this course, you need to give us the money, and make that money clearly identifiable as being for this course.’
Getting on with things, perhaps a week passed, and a new friend called me. She had done the course with me and had enrolled in the 2021 school.
‘I’m calling because I believe God wants me to offer to pay for your course in 2021.’
I was speechless and humbled.
I explained to her my thought conversation with God.
‘Well,’ she said, ‘He wants me to offer, and if you even thought that, you need to take it, but I won’t force it, have a think and get back to me.’
It took a week. I sought counsel from Andrew and wise friends. I emailed Prophetic Company Global, and Bethany Hicks responded advising me of the time commitment. Andrew and I counted the cost in time, and I shyly accepted the incredibly generous offer made.
Nearly a year on, I can say how profoundly grateful I am for the gift.
I knew at the time that there was no point reinventing the wheel. A great wheel already existed. However, I had not fully grasped that Dan and Bethany would be so available to encourage, answer questions, teach, and grow people. Neither had I realised the power of the ACT community, especially as lockdowns continued on here into 2021.
So, in telling this God is good story, I will say – God makes provision for the vision. In fact, He outdid Himself. Years of feeling so alone and in the wilderness melted away as I learnt and grew and asked all the hard questions no one was willing to, or could, answer. They welcomed my intensity of questioning, and for the first time in a long while, people celebrated me for being, well, for being…. me!
And so it is with great delight I advise I am now qualified as an internationally recognised prophetic trainer with Prophetic Company Global
It’s been a privilege to train with Dan McCollam & Bethany Hicks throughout 2021, and an honour to be mentored by them. It will be an even greater privilege to continue to my training and mentoring throughout 2022.
I am profoundly grateful to the person who funded my training in response to the prompting from God. You know who you are, and I thank you.
